Canon Selphy CP1300 Compact Photo Printer Review

Canon Selphy CP1300 Compact Photo Printer Review- The Canon Selphy CP1300 Photo Printer provides fast and consistent printing across all devices and is comparable, even better, than drugstore prints. For this reason, we consider it the best printer for crafts and the best printer for mac (for you designers out there).

Canon Selphy CP1300 Compact Photo Printer

The Canon Selphy CP1300 may not be the printer you are used to, but it is the printer that will blow your mind the most. It can print photos in stunning, vibrant colors in a minute, and the thermal dye sublimation technology it uses will last for decades to come!

Speed

The Canon Selphy CP1300 Wireless Compact Photo Printer is not the printer intended to print monochrome text pages. If that's what you're after, consider the HP OfficeJet 3830. The Selphy is used for more than a photo printer, and for that matter, when printing on 4x6 photo paper, it can produce an image in about a minute. Less if you print black and white photos. Good news? This printing speed is consistent across all print modes, give or take a few seconds.

Print quality

The technology used by Selphy CP1300 is thermal dye sublimation. This technology generally provides high-quality print jobs with the added benefit of long-lasting prints because the color ink dries immediately. But if this new technology isn't your thing, check out the Silhouette Crafting Printer. But overall, the print quality for the CP1300 is fantastic and comparable to drugstore prints and sometimes even better.

Efficiency

The running costs of using the Canon Selphy CP1300, considering the cost of ink cartridges and paper, should be around 35 cents per 4x6 photo print. While this may sound like a lot compared to other printers, such as the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000, keep in mind that this printer is explicitly aimed at photos, and it is always more expensive to print. Compared to other photo-only printers, this one runs nearly four cents cheaper per print. You can even save ink by purchasing the Canon KP-108, a Selphy compatible printer ink bundled with the CP1300.

Advanced features

The CP1300 has a USB flash drive and an SD card slot for direct printing from memory devices. However, it does not include a mini USB Type B cable, even though it does include a port. Good luck trying to find a decade-old USB cable in your home. Wireless printing requires the Canon Print App, which is included, and mobile device printing is an option as long as the device is PictBridge compatible.

Mark

In the first case we saw for the printer, Canon sold an optional battery pack that it says is good for 54 prints per charge. This is a good security feature to rely on if something goes wrong and you still need to print. Unfortunately, the batteries are sold separately for $90. Another cool feature is party shuffle, which lets you print collages with friends from various devices!

Bottom line, the Canon Selphy CP1300 delivers stunning prints for an inexpensive printer. It also comes with backups just in case something goes wrong, like the ability to print wired or with direct wi-fi. The optional battery is also a nice touch but is sold separately and is a bit pricey at a little over half the cost of the printer itself.
